Smart Health Psychology encompasses both Marni Amsellem, Ph.D.'s  clinical psychology private practice (Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT) and her consulting business, which provides clinically-informed insights, research, and presentations to organizations.

Dr. Amsellem specializes in helping people who are adjusting to a medical diagnosis, health-related challenges, or other transitions and/ or are looking to build their coping skills and resilience. Her professional practice is highly influenced by evidence-based findings. She views how her clients' mental health and psychological functioning when they experience challenges greatly affects how they will respond to the stress. By increasing her clients' ability to successfully cope, they will both be better able to get through the challenges and experience fewer symptoms when doing so. Furthermore, she assists her clients with building resilience, working with their strengths, and learning skills to cope with challenges in the future.

Dr. Amsellem is affiliated with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Center/ Bridgeport Hospital. Prior to opening her private practice, Dr. Amsellem has built her career in diverse settings including hospitals, health facilities and agencies, non-profit organizations, small group practices, and consulting teams. While consulting with the Cancer Support Community (Washington, DC) and the National Cancer Institute (Bethesda, MD), she has conducted research on many aspects of behavioral health and health-related program evaluation, and is particularly focused on the patient experience. Her undergraduate degree is in Human Development from Cornell University. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in health psychology, from Washington University (St. Louis) in 2005. While in graduate school, she studied stress and coping, integrating research into her clinical practice to best meet clients needs, which has carried forward into her current practice.

Dr. Amsellem is currently accepting new clients.
